We like to be involved while living in our community in Playa Coronado. Beach Business Networking allows us to learn about the different businesses in the area. And also to learn about the ex-pats living here in the Beaches, as we like to refer to this area.

Three years ago, friends of ours invited us to go to a meeting, and now I am on the board for the group. Cynthia Lehman once led it, and now it is led by Karen Duncan. I manage the newsletter for the group and have conducted some meetings.

Covid put a halt to our in-person meetings as it did to the entire world.

But the purpose of Beach Business Networking is to promote and learn about area businesses and to support our fellow ex-pats living here who have some side businesses. For instance, some bake, some make kombucha, some make soaps – you get the idea.

Also, at the meetings, we talk about companies we have used and the service we received. Nothing negative is allowed to be posted on social media sites such as Facebook, so if you have a terrible experience, you can say I wouldn´t recommend so and so. And if you have a great experience, this is the venue to come and tell you had a great experience and suggest that place to others. In Panama, as a whole, you must be very careful about saying anything negative, as that person or company can sue you.

So if you are ever visiting Playa Coronado, make sure you come to one of our Beach Business Networking Meetings. They usually are held Tuesday mornings starting at 8:15 am at Nazca 21 Restaurant. And if you go, make sure you mention that Patty Thompson sent you! Hope to see you sometime!
